Assistant Regional Director for Administration, Trista Telen, warmly welcomed the Local Social Welfare and Development Officers (LSWDOs) of Agusan del Norte.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted the first batch of the Regional Information Caravan and Orientation on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Operations, Processes, and Systems for the Local Social Welfare and Development Officers (LSWDOs) of Agusan del Norte on May 22, 2025 at Watergate Hotel, Butuan City.

DRMD Chief Aldie Mae Andoy presented the objectives of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Caravan.

In his welcome message, Assistant Regional Director for Administration Tristan Telen emphasized the importance of maximizing the opportunity: “Sulitin po natin ang oportunidad na ito to build a stronger, more responsive, and resilient social welfare system, one that can withstand any disaster and continue to serve the most vulnerable in our communities,” ARDA Telen said.

 

Key discussions focused on DSWD’s core disaster response programs and services, aiming to reinforce LSWDOs’ preparedness amid increasingly unpredictable weather. The orientation also equipped them with essential knowledge of operational protocols and standard procedures for more efficient disaster response and resource management.

The LSWDOs of Agusan del Norte listened attentively during the presentation.

The event concluded with a message from Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul Parajes: “Let this be just the beginning of continued collaboration and learning. Together, we can ensure that no community is left behind in times of disaster.”

 

As the vice-chair for disaster response, DSWD Field Office Caraga reaffirms its commitment to equipping local government units (LGUs) with the knowledge and tools necessary for effective disaster operations, and to standing firmly with them to ensure that all citizens receive the quality service they deserve.
