The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga continues to provide aid to food-poor families through the Walang Gutom (WGP) 2027: Food Stamp Program.

Earlier today (October 24, 2024), 87 beneficiaries attended the voucher redemption in the municipality of Gigaquit, Surigao de Norte. Each beneficiary is provided food credit assistance worth Php3,000.00 via Electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards. The said food credit is utilized in buying healthy and nutritious food which consists of 50% Carbohydrates, 30% Protein, and 20% fiber.

The redemption is made possible with the participation of partner retailer, Gakit Consumer Goods, also based in Gigaquit.

The WGP is a flagship program of the DSWD under President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr’s administration, which aims to reduce the incidence of voluntary hunger experienced by low-income households by providing monetary-based assistance through Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards that can be used to purchase select food commodities from eligible partner merchant stores.

The beneficiaries of the program are those identified as food poor through the Listahanan 3 Database, prioritizing families with children 0-5 years old, single-parents, pregnant, and lactating mothers.
