In its ongoing commitment to supporting the LAWA at BINHI projects, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its Food-for-Work Program, distributed 1,702 family food packs (FFPs) to beneficiaries in Libjo, Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI), today, February 25, 2025.
The distribution served as compensation for the beneficiaries’ four days of community work, providing immediate relief while ensuring their active participation in projects focused on water and food security.
Since its implementation, Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) has played a vital role in fostering environmental resilience while addressing the communities’ fundamental needs: access to clean water and sustainable food sources.
The family food packs (FFPs)—each containing 6 kilograms of vacuum-sealed rice, 2 tins of sardines, 4 cans of tuna, 4 tins of corned beef, 5 sachets of coffee, and 5 sachets of cereal—were distributed in coordination with the local government unit (LGU) of Libjo. The distribution reached 726 partner beneficiaries in Barangay General Aguinaldo and 125 partner beneficiaries in Barangay San Antonio, ensuring essential food support for these communities.
As the LAWA at BINHI projects expand and flourish, Field Office Caraga, alongside its key programs and services, remains committed to supporting and empowering communities to thrive and build resilience.
