Residents of Purok 2, Barangay Pakwan, Lanuza, Surigao del Sur, feel a great relief with the near completion of their 177 linear meter concrete pathway sub-project funded through Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan- Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS).
Before the pathway was laid, the residents of the barangay, most specially the students and teachers have had a hard time treading the rough path heading to the school. This predicament is felt during rainy days when the road becomes muddy and slippery. With a slippery path, accidents were inevitable. Because of these, the community of barangay Pakwan agreed to propose the said sub-project to answer their needs.
In a few weeks time, the residents will be able to utilize the concrete pathway and brush their worries aside, as they will be able to traverse the path safely and with ease.
Kalahi-CIDSS is one of the implemented programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that uses the Community-Driven Development (CDD) strategy to empower communities and improve local governance. With this approach, communities are able to identify and carry out development projects that will address their needs.
